CPT Marc Samland is an instructor of mechanical engineering in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the United States Military Academy (USMA).

He received his commission after graduating from USMA in 2016 and then attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a Master of Science in mechanical engineering.

CPT Samland reported to the 864th Engineer Battalion, 555th Engineer Brigade, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, where he served as a platoon leader in the 610th Engineer Support Company and later as executive officer for the 22nd Engineer Clearance Company. Relocating to Camp Humphreys, South Korea, he served as the 11th Engineer Battalion’s current operations officer before taking command of the 55th Combat Engineer Company (Armored).
