MAJ Michael Hamel graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2013 with a degree in History. He commissioned into the Military Police Corps and his first assignment was with the 118th Military Police Company where he served as a platoon leader. In 2015, he deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon his return in February 2016, he served as the Executive Officer for HHC, 16th Military Police Brigade. After graduating from the Captains Career Course, he served on staff at the 8th Military Police Brigade and then assumed command of HHD, 19th Military Police Battalion (CID). Following command, he attended graduate school at the University of North Texas and earned an MA in History. He currently serves in the Military Division of the Department of History and is pursuing his PhD.
