RELEASE NO: 01-20

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Local health authorities have confirmed that two employees who work in the Emergency Operations Center at the U.S. Military Academy have tested positive for COVID-19.

The employees placed themselves in self quarantine immediately after recognizing possible exposure and are currently isolated at an off-post location.

Health protection of the workforce is a top priority, and the academy will continue to ensure that all personnel have the most up-to-date information on appropriate measures to prevent spread of the virus.

Over the weekend, West Point was closed to visitors and all large gatherings have been cancelled. The Child Development Center, Department of Defense Education Activity schools, Child & Youth Services and all fitness facilities are closed.  All restaurants on the installation are grab and go only.  The leadership has instituted strict guidelines and social distancing practices for the protection of others within the community.
