CPT Seth Maxfield is a native of Minnesota and a 2014 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy. Commissioned as an armor officer, he completed the Armor Basic Officer Leaders Course and served as a battalion medical platoon leader, tank platoon leader and tank company executive officer with the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment at Fort Riley, Kansas. He later deployed to the Republic of Korea.
After completing the Maneuver Captains Career Course, he served as a division current operations officer with the 2nd Infantry Division (ROK–U.S. Combined Division) at Camp Humphreys, Korea, and as a squadron maintenance officer with the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Stewart, Georgia. While deployed to the Republic of Korea, CPT Maxfield assumed command of Darkhorse (Tank) Troop, 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, and commanded in Korea and at Fort Stewart before deploying to Camp Aachen, Germany, in support of worldwide contingency operations in March 2022.
Upon completion of Combined Resolve 17 at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center, CPT Maxfield attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and completed his Master of Arts degree in German in May 2024. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Air Assault Badge and German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge in Gold.
