MAJ William "Brad" Vass is a Medical Service Corps (MSC) Officer who has served in both operational assignments and Army Medical Department positions, including deployment experience with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Regional Command South, Afghanistan. MAJ Vass most recently was assigned as the Director of Public Health at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, CO, before being selected to pursue a Ph.D. through the MSC Long-Term Health Education and Training (LTHET) program.
His graduate research involved air sampling to assess potential airborne virus exposure risks. Specifically, his work included virus aerosolization and collection, with a focus on the enrichment of viruses in samples while conserving their viability. He also conducted air sampling to quantify virus presence in occupational and residential settings and thereby better understand potential human health risks.
