Family Weekend is a special time for loved ones to visit West Point, spend meaningful time with their cadet, and gain a deeper understanding of life at the academy. The year, Family Weekend will take place October 9 – 11, featuring a variety of events from tours and open houses to athletic games and social gatherings, all designed to strengthen the bond between cadets and their families.

2026 Family Weekend Schedule of Events

Attendance optional; tickets required to attend. Ticket sales are closed.
Sunday Brunch (with Cadet Escort)
Academic Departments Open House is from 12:45 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
On Sunday, Oct. 11, Hudson River boat tours will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations required.
The 30-minute tours offer views of the U.S. Military Academy, Constitution Island, Cold Spring and the Hudson Valley, accompanied by a historical narrative from the boat. There are no stops during the tour.
Additional Family Weekend Information
Families and visitors should plan ahead for access to West Point during Family Weekend. All visitors age 18 and older must present a valid U.S.-issued ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, to enter West Point.
Visitors with a current, valid physical visitor pass may continue to use it. Those who require new visitor validation must stop at the Visitor Control Center (VCC) and present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or other accepted form of identification. New physical visitor passes are no longer issued; visitor access is now tied to the validated ID.
With increased visitation expected throughout the weekend, please allow additional time for processing and entry. Enhanced security measures remain in effect at West Point.

A Family Weekend shuttle bus is available from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. There are four buses, one of which is handicap accessible. The bus takes a loop route, stopping at four locations before proceeding back to the start of the route:

Cadet schedules and availability during Family Weekend vary based on class year, individual responsibilities and authorized privileges.
Walking privileges allow authorized cadets to travel within a designated area surrounding West Point. For planning purposes, families may reference the Walking Privileges Map, which shows the designated walking privileges area around West Point. The map is intended as a geographic reference only and does not indicate an individual cadet’s schedule, availability or privileges.
Families should coordinate plans directly with their cadet regarding their availability throughout the weekend. Cadets should follow current guidance from their chain of command.
