Social Sciences (SOSH) Internships

The Department of Social Sciences offers a variety of international and domestic summer enrichment internship programs for cadets.

About SOSH Internships

Don’t just learn about politics and economics in the classroom; go out and “do it.”  Social Sciences provides cadets opportunities through experiential learning, both domestic and international, to broaden their understanding of the social sciences. Cadets can experience a range of development opportunities, including cultural immersion through service, experiential learning internships, policy and research projects, and academic enrichment.

The AIAD program provides cadets with unique preparation to become leaders of character in the ever-changing world and gain valuable professional development experience and increased cross-cultural competence.

Examples of SOSH Internships

Cadets volunteer with the Projects Abroad organization in Nepal, Cambodia, Costa Rica, and the Philippines, working alongside local hosts while engaging in service projects such as constructing schools and teaching English.

These programs prepare cadets to work in unfamiliar terrain and cultural environments, which are critical skills for junior officers.

The U.S. Embassy internship program provides cadets with outstanding opportunities to learn about U.S. foreign policy in Serbia, Poland, Germany, North Macedonia, Turkey, Armenia, Italy, Poland, and Croatia.

Cadets participate in multinational training events, attend high-level diplomatic engagements, and gain first-hand exposure to the political, economic, and diplomatic missions in U.S. embassies.

Cadets are placed in Washington, D.C., with members of Congress where they learn first-hand about the political process and gain insights into the interagency process.
