In 2009, she enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard before enrolling in ROTC in college. In 2014, she commissioned as an active-duty aviation officer. After flight school, she served in Fort Drum, NY, as a UH-60 Blackhawk maintenance platoon leader, flight platoon leader, battalion S4, in 2-10 Assault Helicopter Battalion, and assistant S3 1-10 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion. Amber served as a flight company commander for B/3-501 Assault Helicopter Battalion at Fort Bliss, TX.
