Bryan DeCoster is the Assistant Dean for Personnel at the United States Military Academy and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership. 

Bryan retired as a Colonel after serving 28 years on active duty in the Army. During his distinguished military career, Colonel DeCoster commanded at every level from platoon to brigade. 

Commissioned in 1987 as a military intelligence officer, he served in various battalion through corps-level intelligence, command, and staff positions both at home and overseas. His overseas service included assignments in Germany, Cuba, and Iraq. Colonel DeCoster commanded and deployed the 302nd Military Intelligence Battalion to Iraq in support of Multi-National Corps Iraq from 2005 to 2006. He later commanded U.S. Army Garrison Baden-Wurttemberg and then U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz in Heidelberg and Kaiserslautern, Germany from 2011 to 2014. 

His expertise in teaching and curriculum development of leadership subjects resulted from assignments as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Military Instruction at the United States Military Academy and as the Director of Leadership and Command Instruction in the Department of Command and Leadership Management at the United States Army War College. 

After retirement from active duty in 2015, Mr. DeCoster joined the Army Civilian Corps and served as the Chief of Education and Training at the U.S. Army’s Center for the Army Profession and Ethic developing and coordinating curriculum on character, profession, and ethic for the Army across all ranks and components. He returned to the USMA staff and faculty in 2019.
