Dr. Adam Kalkstein, Ph.D.

Dr. Adam Kalkstein is a climate scientist with expertise in hazards, human health and human–environment interactions. Most recently, he has worked to improve resiliency during summer training by better forecasting conditions that increase the likelihood of heat-related illness among cadets.

Dr. Kalkstein received his Ph.D. and M.S. from Arizona State University and his B.A. from the University of Virginia. He currently serves as the chair of regional dynamics within the Center for Languages, Cultures and Regional Studies (CLCRS).

He has enthusiastically taught physical geography and climatology for 16 years and holds a particular passion for leading the Severe Weather Preparedness and Training experience for cadets during the summer.
