Dr. Adam Kalkstein, Ph.D.

Dr. Adam Kalkstein is a professor of geography in the Department of Geography & Earth Sciences at the United States Military Academy. He currently serves as chair of regional dynamics within USMA's Center for Languages, Cultures, and Regional Studies. 

He is a climate scientist with expertise in hazards, human health and human–environment interactions. Most recently, he has worked to improve resiliency during summer training by better forecasting conditions that increase the likelihood of heat-related illness among cadets.

Dr. Kalkstein received his doctorate and master's degree from Arizona State University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia. He has enthusiastically taught physical geography and climatology for 16 years and holds a particular passion for leading the Severe Weather Preparedness and Training experience for cadets during the summer.
