CPT Andrew Elgin is an instructor in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy. 

He is a native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and began his Army service in 2015 as a transportation platoon leader with 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT). During this time, he deployed to Northern Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. 

Upon redeployment, he served as a supply support activity platoon leader and executive officer of Alpha Company, 526th Brigade Support Battalion. Subsequently, he was selected to serve a two-year "outside the continental United States" (OCONUS) tour in Bremerhaven, Germany, as the operations officer of the 950th Transportation Company, 838th Transportation Battalion, 598th Transportation Brigade, SDDC, before attending the Logistics Captains Career Course. 

Following course graduation, CPT Elgin served as the interim battalion executive officer and commander of the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 82nd Finance Battalion. Awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2OLC, 1 CDevice), the Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), the National Defense Service Medal, the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, the Parachutist Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. 

He is also a Threat Finance Additional Skill Identifier. 

CPT Elgin was valedictorian and graduated summa cum laude from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in accounting. 

Before joining the SOSH faculty, he earned a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, with specializations in quantitative finance, accounting, and business economics. He received the Wharton MBA Academic Excellence Fellowship and was named a Palmer Scholar, graduating in the top 5% of his MBA cohort. 

His hobbies and interests include personal finance, reading nonfiction literature, watching an excessive amount of sports, and he is a shareholder of the Green Bay Packers. He holds the Chartered Financial Consultant designation and is a candidate for Certified Financial Planner certification.
