CPT Brandon Toum is an instructor in the International History division, Department of History & War Studies (HWS), at the United States Military Academy. Before joining HWS, he served as the air defense coordinator and airspace manager for 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI). His deployments and overseas tours include Iraq, Kuwait, Syria, and Japan.
He was raised in Chino Hills, California. He earned a bachelor's degree in history in 2016 from UC Riverside. CPT Toum earned a master's degree in history in 2024 from George Washington University. He commissioned from the UC Riverside ROTC and branched Air Defense Artillery in 2016.
CPT Toum's first assignment as a lieutenant was 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment where he served as platoon leader/PATRIOT tactical control officer/executive officer/Assistant S3 at Kadena Airbase in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.
After attending Air Defense Captains Career Course in 2020, his next assignment was 3rd Battalion, 2nd Air Defense Artillery in Fort Sill, and later Kuwait where he served as a PATRIOT battery commander.
