Maj. Calvin Elkins is an Air Force weather officer, originally commissioning through Officer Training School in 2014. He has served as station duty officer at the 25th Operational Weather Squadron (Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ), wing weather officer with the 374th Airlift Wing (Yokota AB, Japan), flight commander/assistant director of operations of the 16th Weather Squadron, and science officer with 1st Weather Group (Offutt AFB, NE). He deployed to Saudi Arabia in 2024 as a weather operations officer with the 378th Air Expeditionary Wing (Prince Sultan AB, KSA).

Maj. Elkins earned his doctorate in atmospheric science in 2022 from the University of Illinois via the Air Force Institute of Technology. Prior to that, he earned his master's in atmospheric science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (2008) as well as bachelor's degrees in atmospheric science and african-american and african studies from The Ohio State University (2004). Prior to military service he held meteorologist positions with the State of North Dakota and within private industry.
