MAJ Cody Stroup is a military science instructor and MST 100 cell chief in the Department of Military Instruction at the United States Military Academy (USMA). He holds a master’s degree in social-organizational psychology from Columbia University, a master’s degree in management and leadership from Webster University, and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Virginia Commonwealth University.
The Mathews, Virginia, native commissioned as a field artillery officer in 2014 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Assignments included company TAC officer for Company F3 at USMA; company commander of HHC, 2-327 IN (No Slack); battalion fire support officer and battalion S4 in 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division; company fire support officer and platoon leader in 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord; and platoon leader in 1-38 FA, 210th Field Artillery Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea.
MAJ Stroup’s operational deployments include Operation Inherent Resolve (2018–2019), where he served as a battalion S4 for 2-32 FA, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
He is a graduate of the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course, Captains Career Course, Joint Firepower Control Course, and the Joint Fires Observer Course.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Army Service Medal. Additionally, MAJ Stroup has received the Expert Soldier Badge and Air Assault Badge. He is a member of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara and Saint Maurice.
MAJ Stroup is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children.
