MAJ Collum Magee is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in management. While a cadet, he competed on the West Point Rugby Team and was a member of the management honor society Omicron Delta Kappa. He commissioned as a field artillery officer upon graduation.
After completing the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course, MAJ Magee was assigned to the 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Vilseck, Germany. He served as a troop fire support officer, fire direction officer, platoon leader, and executive officer. During his three years in Germany, he supported multiple NATO operations across Europe, including missions in Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Hungary.
MAJ Magee graduated from the Field Artillery Captains Career Course in May 2019 as the Distinguished Honor Graduate. He was then assigned to the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, at Fort Carson, Colorado, where he served as a battalion fire support officer and assistant operations officer before assuming battery command. His battery deployed to Syria from September 2021 to May 2022 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
Following command, MAJ Magee earned a Master of Business Administration with specializations in finance and management from the New York University Stern School of Business, graduating in May 2024.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with C device, Army Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (second award), Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and Air Assault Badge. He is also a graduate of the Joint Firepower Course and a member of the Honorable Order of St. Barbara.
MAJ Magee is married to MAJ Ashley Mohr, an instructor in the Department of History and War Studies.
