LTC David Stamps is an instructor in the Department of Geography & Earth Sciences at the United States Military Academy. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee. 

He was commissioned into the U.S. Army from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2007. As an aviation officer, he served with the 3rd Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault); the 1st Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division; and the 1st Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, 25th Infantry Division.

LTC Stamps transferred to the space operations functional area in 2014 and served in various positions across the Army and joint space community, including the 1st Space Brigade, the National Space Defense Center-Joint Task Force Space Defense, and U.S. Space Command. 

His military education includes the Initial Entry Rotary Wing Aviator Course, AH‑64D and AH‑64E aircraft qualification, Army Command and General Staff College, and various space qualifications. LTC Stamps’ awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal (one oak leaf cluster); Air Medal (two awards); Army Commendation Medal (three oak leaf clusters); Army Achievement Medal (one oak leaf cluster); National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; NATO Medal (ISAF); Combat Action Badge; Army Aviator Badge; Pathfinder Badge; Parachutist Badge; Air Assault Badge; and the Army Master Space Badge.

He is married to Paula Stamps, and they are the proud parents of three children.
