MAJ Gavin Chase

MAJ Gavin Chase is an instructor in the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York.
He graduated from USMA in 2015 with a bachelor of science in physics. Chase commissioned as an armor officer and served as an anti-tank platoon leader, forward support company executive officer, and squadron S-4 in 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Following the Maneuver Captains Career Course (MCCC), Chase served as a brigade planner for the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Camp Buehring, Kuwait. He then commanded D Troop, 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, during its participation in Operation Allies Refuge. He also commanded Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, before attending graduate school.
Chase completed a master of science in applied mathematics from the University of Washington in 2024 and a master of arts in physics at the University of Wisconsin in 2025. While at the University of Wisconsin, he conducted experimental research in atomic and optical physics. His experiments focused on using neutral atoms as a platform for building a network of quantum computers.
MAJ Chase is part of an Army family originally from Swanton, Vermont. He is married to Beth Ann Chase, and they have five children.
