CPT Gerald Prater Jr. is a philosophy instructor in the Department of Law & Philosophy at the United States Military Academy.

He enlisted in the Army in 2010 as an intelligence analyst and served in the III Corps G-2 before being selected for the Green to Gold Program. He commissioned as an infantry officer through ROTC in 2016 from Arizona State University. He has served as a Stryker platoon leader, scout platoon leader, executive officer, aide-de-camp, assistant S-3 and a mechanized infantry company commander.

He is married to the former Lacey Heilman, and they have four children: Jaden, Isaiah, Presley and Gerald III.
