Dr. Gunnar Tamm is a professor of mechanical engineering in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. He joined USMA with the Department of Civil & Mechanical Engineering in 2004. 

He teaches courses on thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, renewable energy and energy conversion, heat transfer, and mechanical engineering design. His research at West Point has included laser target interaction, sustainable energy for installations, deployed military energy usage, and designing field expedient capabilities and weapons systems for soldiers.

Dr. Tamm received his doctorate from the University of Florida, where he researched thermodynamics and renewable energy systems.
