MAJ Jared Helle earned his commission as an engineer officer from the United States Military Academy in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in systems engineering.

From 2010-13, he served as a sapper platoon leader and executive officer in the 591st Engineer Company at Fort Campbell, KY, deploying to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn. Following completion of Special Forces training at Fort Bragg, NC, MAJ Helle was assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), at Fort Campbell.

From 2015-19, MAJ Helle served as the detachment commander for SFOD-As 5114 and 5116, Troop 2 commander and company executive officer. He deployed to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility multiple times in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. In 2019, he attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, where he completed his Joint Professional Military Education I and graduated with a Master of Science in defense analysis (irregular warfare).

In 2021, MAJ Helle returned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), where he served as a battalion operations officer and company commander. He currently serves in the Defense and Strategic Studies Program as the DSS deputy director and a course director for several DSS courses.

MAJ Helle's military schools include the Special Forces Qualification Course, Ranger School, Sapper School, Special Forces Advanced Reconnaissance, Target Analysis, and Exploitation Techniques Course (SFARTAETC), Military Free Fall Parachutist Course, Pathfinder School, Airborne School and Air Assault School.

He is married to Erin Helle of Buffalo, NY. They have two daughters, Blake, 8, and Carly, 5.
