MAJ Jason A. Johnson is an instructor in the Department of English & World Languages at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York.

He enlisted as a 35P cryptologic linguist in 2003 and studied Persian Farsi at the Defense Language Institute. While enlisted, he served as a Persian linguist with the 163rd Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas; the 709th Military Intelligence Battalion at Menwith Hill, United Kingdom; and as an instructor for the Persian Basic Cryptologic Linguist Course at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. 

MAJ Johnson deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006.

In 2013, he was selected to attend Officer Candidate School. After completing the Military Intelligence Officer Leader Course, MAJ Johnson was assigned to the 1st Infantry Combat Aviation Brigade. He served as the brigade intelligence plans officer, the assistant S-2 of the 1-1 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion (ARB), and as the 1-1 ARB battalion S-2. 

In 2016, he deployed to Jalalabad, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and served as the battalion task force S-2. In 2017, he completed the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course and was assigned as G-2 plans and exercises chief with the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, in 2018.

In 2019, MAJ Johnson assumed command of B Company, 715th Military Intelligence Battalion. Following completion of command, he served as an office chief with the National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) until attending graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin in 2022. He was assigned as a Persian instructor at USMA in 2024.

He holds a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern studies from the University of Texas at Austin (2024), a Bachelor of Arts in intelligence studies from American Military University (2011), and an Associate of Arts in Persian from the Defense Language Institute (2011). MAJ Johnson’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.
