He was a defenseman on the club hockey team during his time at the academy.MAJ Johnston and his wife, Julie, both served as platoon leaders in the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell, then as company commanders in the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade at Wheeler Army Airfield.
