LTC(R) Jerry Hart

LTC(R) Jerry Hart is an assistant professor and the boxing director and coach in the Department of Physical Education (DPE) at the United States Military Academy (USMA). He was appointed as course director in August 2023.

The Westwood, Massachusetts, native was a Junior Olympic and Golden Gloves boxer before attending USMA, where he graduated in 1993 and commissioned in the Transportation Corps. 

Coach Hart received his master's degree in physical education from the University of Georgia in 2002. From 2002 to 2005, he taught boxing, combatives, and women’s self-defense in DPE at West Point. In addition, he coached the Army club boxing team.

He continued serving in a variety of leadership positions in the Army, including several deployments, prior to retiring in 2015. Coach Hart returned to DPE and coaching the boxing team in May 2020. 

He is married and has four adult children.
