MAJ Joe Feifer serves as the deputy director of the Modern War Institute (MWI) at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.
Upon graduation from the University of San Francisco, he was commissioned in the infantry through the Reserve Officer Training Corps and served in various leadership and staff roles in the United States and overseas. These include duties with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the 82nd Airborne Division, the United States Intelligence Center of Excellence, the United States Army Central Command, and the United States Cyber Command.
MAJ Feifer's combat experience includes leading soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq. Before joining MWI, he was a Joint Task Force J3 within the Cyber National Mission Force.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of San Francisco, a Master of Operational Studies from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kansas.
His has earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Pathfinder Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Space Badge, and the Senior Army Instructor Badge. Awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with three oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), and Army Achievement Medal (with three oak leaf clusters).
MAJ Feifer is married to the former Lauren Taylor, and they are the proud parents of a son and daughter.
