Dr. John Stapleton, Ph.D.

Dr. John Stapleton is an associate professor in the Department of History & War Studies at the United States Military Academy.

Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, he graduated from New Trier High School. After graduation, he attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where, in addition to earning a bachelor’s degree in history, he was a varsity football player and co‑captain of the lacrosse club.

After a five‑year stint in the business world, Dr. Stapleton returned to academia in 1991, when he enrolled in the graduate history program at Ohio State University.
