COL Jordan Becker is an associate professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy. He is also the director of the Social Science Research Lab, where he teaches courses in social science methods, comparative politics, and international relations.
Previously, he served as an infantry, Special Forces, and foreign area officer. His work focuses on defense economics and strategic culture and is supported by an ERC Consolidator Grant, a Smith Richardson Foundation Grant, and a Carnegie Grant. His work has been published in the British Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, the Journal of Peace Research, International Studies Quarterly, International Affairs, International Studies Perspectives, Defence and Peace Economics, European Security, Defence Studies, Defense and Security Analysis, Révue Défense Nationale, War on the Rocks, Military Review, and The Monkey Cage.
COL Baker has advised, based on his research, the U.S. Ambassador to NATO (Douglas Lute), the chair of the NATO Military Committee (Petr Pavel), the Private Office of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg (Benedetta Berti), and the Office of the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
