MAJ Jose M. Rojas

MAJ Jose M. Rojas Levano is an instructor of military science in the Department of Military Instruction at West Point.

He is a Peruvian Army officer, administrator, and educator with an honorable military career and extensive international experience. He began his academic journey at the Escuela Militar de Chorrillos in Lima, Peru, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in military sciences (2007-10). He later complemented his military education with a bachelor’s degree in administration from the Universidad Nacional San Agustin in Arequipa, Peru (2010-11).

A dedicated linguist, MAJ Rojas has achieved advanced proficiency in English and French, in addition to his native Spanish language. His linguistic training includes advanced English and specialized pedagogy courses at the Defense Language Institute in Texas. He also attended language programs in Canada, where he attained advanced French certification.

Throughout his career, MAJ Rojas has held critical roles in the Peruvian Army. From 2011 to 2013, he served as a human resources officer before transitioning to a logistics officer and instructor for the multi-rocket launcher systems unit (2014-18). His international tenure includes serving as a United Nations military observer in the Democratic Republic of Congo (2019–2020). Returning to Peru, Rojas was appointed company commander from 2021 to 2022, then assigned as the 31st Infantry Brigade budget officer (2022-23).

MAJ Rojas’ military awards include the United Nations Medal for his contributions to the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Espada de Honor (Sword of Honor) for graduating first in his class at the Escuela Militar de Chorrillos. He has also been honored with two additional academic medals by the Peruvian Army, reflecting his commitment to excellence and service.
