MAJ Justine Costa is an instructor in the International History Division, Department of History & War Studies, at the United States Military Academy.
MAJ Costa graduated from The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina in 2016 and commissioned as a finance and comptroller officer. Her first assignment was with C Detachment, 176th FMSU in Camp Casey, South Korea, where she served as a deputy disbursing agent and detachment XO. Following this assignment, she served as a budget analyst, special authorities chief, and counter-threat finance analyst at the Joint Special Operations Command. MAJ Costa also served as a budget analyst at the Joint Interagency Taskforce, National Capital Region. MAJ Costa commanded C Company, 106th Finance Battalion in Vicenza, Italy. Following command, she served in the Army Budget Office, ASA(FM&C) at the Pentagon. Her service includes multiple deployments to Jordan and Afghanistan, as well as exercises in Morrocco, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, the Dominican Republic and Eastern Europe.
MAJ Costa holds a master’s degree in history with a concentration in Latin America from the University of South Carolina.
She is joined at West Point by her husband, Pedro, and their son.
