MAJ Katie Davel is the Deputy Commandant at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School at West Point, New York. She previously taught General Chemistry and Biology in the Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences and Engineering at the United States Military Academy.

She commissioned as an Engineer officer in 2013 after graduating from USMA with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She also holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science in Kinesiology, with a research focus in gait biomechanics and wearable technology.

MAJ Davel served as a Route Clearance platoon leader and Engineer Construction Company executive officer in the 130th Engineer Brigade in Hawaii and with Task Force Ready in the Republic of Korea.

Her additional assignments include commanding Alpha Company, 31st Engineer Battalion, a One Station Unit Training company responsible for training combat engineers and bridge crewmembers; serving as the Training and Operations Officer for the 1st Engineer Brigade’s Department of Military Engineering; serving as the Operations Officer for the U.S. Army Engineer School’s Department of Instruction; and instructing at the Engineer Captains Career Course.

Her awards and decorations include the Bronze de Fleury Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Senior Army Instructor Badge, and German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge in Gold.

MAJ Davel is a graduate of the Command and General Staff Officers Course, Engineer Captains Career Course, Engineer Basic Officer Leader Course, and Sapper Leader Course. She is Airborne and Air Assault qualified.
