CSM Kyle E. Keenan

CSM Kyle E. Keenan is the 28th Command Sergeant Major, United States Corps of Cadets at West Point, NY.

CSM Keenan is a native of Newark, Ohio, and enlisted into the Army in 2001, specializing as a Cavalry Scout. He has served in all non-commissioned officer (NCO) leadership positions from team leader to nominative command sergeant major. CSM Keenan has also served as a TAC NCO, Drill Sergeant, and Combat Advisor. CSM Keenan has served as senior enlisted leader for numerous units, including 3rd Brigade Reserve Officer Training Corps, United States Army Cadet Command at Naval Station Great Lakes, IL and 1st Squadron 89th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY. CSM Keenan has multiple deployments to Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria.

CSM Keenan’s military and civilian education include Basic Airborne, Pathfinder, Air Assault, Combat Advisor Training, Drill Sergeant, US Army Strategic Studies Program at UC Berkley, Close Quarters Battle Course, Combat Life Saver, Combatives Level 1 & 2, Basic Army Instructor, and all levels of NCOES up to the United States Army Sergeants Major Course (Class 70). CSM Keenan holds a master’s degree from University of Texas at El Paso, a bachelor's degree from United States Army Command and General Staff College, and an associate’s degree from Lincoln Technical Institute. He is currently working on a master’s degree from University of Louisville.

His dedication and leadership have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with V-Device, Bronze Star Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters and “C” device), Army Achievement Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters), and Navy Achievement Medal. He has also been awarded the Combat Action Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Parachute Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and Air Assault Badge. CSM Keenan is also a recipient of the Order of Saint George Bronze Medallion.

Beyond his military service, CSM Keenan is married to Heather Keenan and is father to four children: sons Zachary and Isaac, and daughters Brieana and Grace.
