Dr. Laura Samotin is an assistant professor in the Department of History & War Studies, as well as the Department of Social Sciences, at the United States Military Academy.
She received her doctorate in international affairs from Columbia University, where her research focused on the nonmaterial determinants of military effectiveness. Her academic work has been published in The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs and major academic journals and presses.
Dr. Samotin has also served as a nonresident senior fellow at the Stimson Center and the University of Southern California's Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy, as well as a former nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council.
