LTC Mark Haseman is in his second tour as an assistant professor in the Department of Physics & Nuclear Engineering at the United States Military Academy (USMA). He graduated from USMA in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in physics.

He commissioned as an engineer officer and served as a platoon leader and company executive officer with the 27th Engineer Battalion (Combat, Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Following the Engineer Captains Career Course, he commanded the combat engineer company in the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas.

After his first rotation as a USMA instructor, he became a Functional Area 52 officer and served as a member of the Nuclear Weapons Effects Analysis Team, J5N9, for U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.

LTC Haseman holds two Master of Science degrees - one in engineering management and one in physics - and a Doctor of Philosophy in physics. His research interests include nuclear and particle physics and directed energy, specifically high-energy lasers.

His deployment history includes Afghanistan (March 2006 to April 2007) as a combat engineer platoon leader with the 27th Engineer Battalion (Combat, Airborne), and Iraq (December 2009 to June 2010) as the brigade engineer for the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

LTC Haseman is originally from Laguna Niguel, California. He and wife Heather married in 2007 and have seven children: Mylique (21), Zayvion (18), Sophia (15), Shane (15), Madelyn (14), Hadley (11), and Luke (8). He lives in Chester, New York. His outside interests include working on cars, spending time with his family, traveling, and exploring new places.
