CPT Moises Villa is a tactical officer with the Battalion Tactical Department at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS).

The Mexicali, Mexico, native enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2007 in the Ordnance Corps. In 2014, he received a Green to Gold Scholarship to the “Sun Devil” ROTC Battalion in Arizona, where he graduated as a national distinguished military graduate and earned a commission as a second lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps. In 2016, he was the honor graduate of his Basic Officer Leader Course, and in 2020, he became the distinguished honor graduate of the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course (first of 120), both courses at the Army Logistics University in Fort Lee, Virginia.

Villa began his military career at Warner Barracks, Germany, where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 08-09 with the 16th Sustainment Brigade. In 2010, he served with the 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade at Fort Polk, Louisiana, during the brigade’s lead on the Defense Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High-Yield Explosive Response Force mission. 

In 2012, Villa moved to Camp Carroll, South Korea, where he served as the armament/communications and electronics shop non-commissioned officer in charge (NCOIC), platoon sergeant, command group NCOIC, and battalion safety office NCOIC with the 2-1 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. In 2013, he became 8th Army’s Best Warrior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.

After commissioning in 2016, he first served as a platoon leader in a forward support company, and then as the executive officer for the field maintenance company of 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. 

In 2019, Villa deployed as an individual augmentee to Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, where he served as a joint country planner and the director of protocol for Joint Task Force Bravo, U.S. Southern Command. In 2020, he served as the commander for the Tucson Army Recruiting Company, 5th Recruiting Brigade, U.S. Army Recruiting Command. In 2023, he served as a tactical officer in the U.S. Corps of Cadets at the United States Military Academy (USMA). 

Villa's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (second award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (fifth award), Army Achievement Medal (ninth award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (two campaign stars), Korean Defense Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 5), Army Recruiting Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).
