Nathan Shumway received his bachelors of science in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2013 and then went to the University of Maryland where he worked on hypersonic boundary layer transition and dragonfly flight receiving his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in 2019. He went from there to the Aeronautics Laboratory at the United States Air Force Academy where he worked on experimental aerodynamics including fluid-structure interaction, supersonic vehicle aerodynamics, and unsteady aerodynamics at low Reynolds numbers. While he was there he mentored students through research projects.
