CPT R. Alexander Laval-Leyva attended the United States Military Academy Preparatory School and United States Military Academy from July 2012 to May 2017, graduating with a bachelor of science in philosophy and commissioning into the air defense artillery branch. He has served as a fire control platoon leader, patriot battery executive officer, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery Executive Officer, assistant battalion operations officer, assistant brigade operations officer, and most recently as a missile system maintenance company commander. He is currently an instructor of philosophy in the Department of Law and Philosophy.
CPT Laval-Leyva’s civilian education includes a master of arts in philosophy from Tufts University and a bachelor of science in philosophy from the United States Military Academy. His military education includes Air Assault School, Operational Contracting Support School, Air Defense Artillery Basic Officer Leaders Course, and Air Defense Artillery Captains Career Course. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Medal, and four Army Overseas Service Medals.
He is happily married to the former Hisako Nashiro, and they have one wonderful dog Ein.
