Dr. Rachelle DeCoste is a professor of mathematics and program director for the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York. She first taught at USMA in 2004-07 and then was a professor at Wheaton College in Massachusetts.
Dr. DeCoste has taught a wide variety of mathematics courses, including a geometry class with digital fabrication. She enjoys engaging with students in class and in mathematical research. She has published papers in Differential Geometry, in particular most of her work has considered the density of closed geodesics on manifolds arising from Lie groups and algebras. Through these objects she has been able to combine her love of algebra and geometry.
Throughout her career, Dr. DeCoste has actively worked to attract top talent to the mathematics and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) communities - creating programs focused on that goal.
