CPT Ross Ito

CPT Ross Ito is an instructor of American politics in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. His research interests include security cooperation, institutional capacity building, and U.S.-Latin American relations.

He commissioned into the Corps of Engineers. CPT Ito is a graduate of the Spanish-language Maneuver Captain Career Course at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation at Fort Benning, Georgia.

He participated in the U.S. State Department’s Critical Language Scholarship, studying Portuguese in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has spent extended time in Panama, Brazil, Spain, and Colombia.

CPT Ito holds a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Miami; an M.B.A. and M.S. in business analytics from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington; and an M.A. in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). At SAIS, he specialized in strategic studies and Latin America.

He is a certified Project Management Professional and is conversant in Spanish and Portuguese.

Born and raised in Maui, Hawaii, CPT Ito enjoys the outdoors and staying active. A Boy Scout since 1998, he enjoys volunteering with local troops to give back to the community.
