Dr. Russ Lachance is an associate professor, associate dean, director of academic advising, and deputy registrar at the United States Military Academy (USMA).
He is a USMA Class of 1985 graduate and earned a bachelor's degree with a concentration in chemistry. He later completed a master's degree (1995) and a doctorate (2005) in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Before joining the USMA faculty, Dr. Lachance served as an engineer officer in the U.S. Army until his retirement in 2014. His assignments included service in the 25th Infantry Division, 1st Armored Division, 3rd Infantry Division, and V Corps.
At West Point, Dr. Lachance has served as a faculty member, Chemical Engineering academy professor, acting deputy head in the Department of Chemistry and Life Science, and associate dean for curriculum and assessment. He currently teaches courses in chemistry and chemical engineering, and his research interests include waste-to-energy conversion and student success.
Dr. Lachance and his wife, Lisa, are proud members of the “2 Percent Club” and have enjoyed a rewarding Army life with their four adult children and extended family.
