Dr. Ryan Gaynor, Ph.D.

Dr. Ryan Gaynor is a Davies Postdoctoral Fellow working in collaborations with the Department of Chemical and Biological Science and Engineering at the United States Military Academy (USMA) and The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Army Research Laboratory (DEVCOM ARL). He works under the guidance of COL Chi Nguyen of USMA and Dr. Thomas Rohrabaugh, Jr. of ARL synthesizing and characterizing iridium chromophores for their nonlinear optical properties. While at USMA, he taught CH102 during AY25-2 and course directed CH472 during AY26-1.

Dr. Gaynor received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Kennesaw State University in 2019 where he took part in research with Dr. Daniela Tapu synthesizing carbene complexes of coinage metals. He went on to pursue a PhD in chemistry at Mississippi State University under Dr. Sidney Creutz where he investigated steric effects of chelation on first-row transition metal complexes, graduating in May 2024.
