LTC Ryan O. Scott

LTC Ryan Scott is the associate dean for faculty development at the United States Military Academy (USMA). At USMA, he taught with the Department of Military Instruction as the MS200 course director as well as serving as the Military Sciences executive officer. He is also an assistant professor with the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership, as well as previously serving as the department’s executive officer.

Ryan served for four years as an active-duty Army bandsman, playing guitar for the 77th Army Band at Fort Sill, OK and the 323rd MEDCOM Band at Fort Sam Houston, TX. He was commissioned as a field artillery officer from Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, GA in 2009. As an officer, Ryan has served with the 82nd Airborne in Iraq, taught manual and automated cannon gunnery at the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership course, served as a battery commander, battalion executive officer and brigade operations officer at Fort Sill, OK, and attended the Italian Military’s joint Command and General Staff College in Rome, Italy in 2019. Among his recent assignments, Ryan served as an advisor to the Ukrainian Army’s General Staff at the US Embassy in Kyiv, and as the division chief of fires for the Southern European Task Force – Africa (SETAF-AF) in Vicenza, Italy.

Ryan serves as the Officer in Charge (OIC) of West Point’s Directorate of Cadet Activities (DCA) Church of Christ club.

He is happily married to his wife, Brook, and they have two daughters.
