MAJ Kirkpatrick is a civil affairs officer and instructor assigned to the Department of Geography & Earth Sciences at the United States Military Academy, where he is a reserve individual mobilization augmentee.
He works for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a civilian, focusing on the development of light detection and ranging (lidar) systems for the provision of 3D data. As a reserve augmentee, he supports the Geospatial Science Program by advising on research projects, liaising with agencies in the Washington, D.C., area, and providing guest lectures for multiple classes within the department.
His research interests include active optical remote sensing and the use of high-resolution 3D data to support environmental and civil engineering applications.
