CPT Sam Mahle is an Aviation officer and an instructor in the Department of Systems Engineering. He earned a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering from the United States Military Academy in 2017 and a Master of Science in technology and policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he served as a Draper Fellow.

CPT Mahle completed rotary- and fixed-wing flight school in 2020. He then served as a platoon leader, company executive officer, and forward aviation detachment officer in charge in Eastern Europe while assigned to the 204th Military Intelligence Battalion (Aerial Reconnaissance) at Fort Bliss, Texas, supporting aerial sensitive reconnaissance operations worldwide. After completing the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course in 2023, he returned to the 204th MI Battalion, where he served as a battalion executive officer and then commander of the Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (PED) Company, supporting intelligence-gathering missions across four continents.

CPT Mahle is qualified on the Army’s C-12U and Global 6500 platforms.

He and his wife, Kate, have two daughters, Hudson and Elise.
