A native of Tucson, Arizona, CPT Scott G. Filbert commissioned through the United States Military Academy as a second lieutenant in the Infantry in 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Science in art, philosophy, and literature and a Master of Arts in higher and post-secondary education from Teachers College, Columbia University. 

His assignments include mechanized platoon leader and Armor Company executive officer in 1-64 AR, 1ABCT, 3ID. He then served in the 75th Ranger Regiment Headquarters as an AS1 and special projects officer, deploying twice to Afghanistan. CPT Filbert’s tenure in the 173D IBCT(A) includes time as the 2-503D assistant operations officer, commander of Able Company, 2-503D, and commander of the Brigade Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 173D IBCT(A). 

He is a Ranger-qualified jumpmaster.
