MAJ Vikram Mittal has contributed to Forbes.com, covering stories in aerospace and defense since 2020. He is an associate professor in the Department of Systems Engineering at the United States Military Academy.

He has taught numerous courses covering combat modeling, decision analysis, system design, vehicle dynamics, and engines. His research interests include combat simulation, model-based systems engineering, robotics, and engine knock. Previously, he worked as a mechanical engineer at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in the Vehicles and Robotics Group.

MAJ Mittal holds a Doctor of Philosophy in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in engineering sciences from Oxford University, and a Bachelor of Science in aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology. He is also a combat veteran and serves as a major in the U.S. Army Reserve.
