MAJ Vikram Mittal is an associate professor in the Department of Systems Engineering at the United States Military Academy (USMA), where he also serves as a civilian advisor.
He has contributed to Forbes.com, covering stories in aerospace and defense since 2020. He has taught numerous courses covering combat modeling, decision analysis, system design, vehicle dynamics, and engines. His research interests include combat simulation, model-based systems engineering, robotics, and engine knock. Previously, he worked as a mechanical engineer at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory in the Vehicles and Robotics Group.
MAJ Mittal holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master's degree in engineering sciences from Oxford University, and a bachelor's degree in aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology.
He is also a combat veteran and serves as a major in the U.S. Army Reserve.
