CPT William Baehr is an instructor in the Military History Division, Department of History & War Studies, at the United States Military Academy.

He is from St. Louis, Missouri. He enlisted in the Army in 2004 as an armor crewman and deployed twice to Iraq. After a break in service, he commissioned into the U.S. Army National Guard in 2015 through Officer Candidate School at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He served as a fire support officer in the New York and Illinois Army National Guards before transitioning to the Army Reserve. There he served as a public affairs officer before transitioning to the military government specialist role within the civil affairs branch. He served as a company commander at Kaiserslautern, Germany, and as officer in charge of a military history detachment at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.

CPT Baehr holds a master's of letters in battlefield and conflict archaeology from the University of Glasgow.
