Joseph grew up in Framingham, MA, and attended the University of Illinois for undergraduate and graduate degrees. He was a fellow with the Nuclear Engineering University Program with research focuses of thermal-hydraulics and two-phase flow. He enjoys playing pool, golfing, hiking, and running.
