The Corps of Cadets conducted a special dinner at the Cadet Mess Hall April 14 as a prelude to the 60th anniversary of Douglas MacArthurʼs Duty, Honor, Country speech (above) delivered at West Point in 1962.

(Left) Retired Lt. Gen. Jim Ellis, a 1962 U.S. Military Academy graduate, spoke at the commemoration detailing why his words have resonated with so many over the generations.

Ellis met MacArthur (right) as First Captain the day the retired general delivered his renowned speech upon his acceptance of the Thayer Award.
