MAJ Norman C. Cannon

Major Cole Cannon is a native of Hendersonville, North Carolina. In 2006 he enlisted as a Radio Operator-Maintainer (25C) and served as an Air Defense Communications Relay Group Section Sergeant at Fort Bliss, Texas, and Doha, Qatar. In 2009, he attended the University of Texas at El Paso under the Army Active-Duty Green to Gold Program where he commissioned as a Signal Officer branch detailed to Field Artillery. While assigned to 3d Infantry Division, MAJ Cannon held positions as an Infantry Battalion Fire Support Platoon Leader, an Infantry Mortar Platoon Leader, and an Artillery Battalion Paladin Platoon Leader. After completing his branch detail, MAJ Cannon served as the Battalion S6 for 1-41 Field Artillery, where he participated in two Regionally Aligned Forces (RAF) Rotations to Europe. Following the Signal Captains Career Course (SCCC), MAJ Cannon served 20 months as the 15th Engineer Battalion S6, where he participated in exercises in Germany, Poland, Lithuania, and The Republic of Georgia. After completing Battalion S6, MAJ Cannon Commanded Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 44th Expeditionary Signal Battalion in Grafenwoehr and Baumholder, Germany. Major Cannon's military education includes the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leaders Course, the Signal Officer Advanced Course, the Army Basic Space Cadre Course, the Army Joint Fires Observer Course, the Army Air Assault Course, Paladin Commanders Course, and Modern Army Combatives Level One. MAJ Cannon holds a Master of Arts in Information Technology Management from Webster University and Master of Science in Social Science from Clemson University. Major Cannon's current awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (Num. 2). Major Cannon married his wife Christina in 2006 and have three children- Cayden, Avella, and Brecklen. They currently reside in West Point, NY. MAJ Cannon is currently an Assitant Course Director and instructor for MX400 Officership at the Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic.
