Major Scott Geary is the Chief of Curriculum and Deputy of Military Science and Training in the Department of Military Instruction. He previously served as the Tactical Officer for Company D1 in the United States Corps of Cadets and served as an Instructor and course director for MS300. He is a native of Sheridan, Wyoming and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Engineer Regiment in 2013 from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering. He holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology (2017) and a Master of Arts in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Columbia University (2022). His military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic and Captains’ Career Courses, the M2A3 Bradley Leaders Course, the Route Reconnaissance and Clearance Leader Course, and the Joint Engineer Operations Course. Following Engineer Basic Officer Leader Course, MAJ Geary served at Fort Hood, Texas in the 937th Clearance Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade as an equipment platoon leader. Later he served as the Sapper platoon leader for Bravo Company, 8th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division where he deployed to the Republic of South Korea for nine months in 2015 as the first rotational Brigade Combat Team on the peninsula. Later he served as the executive officer for Alpha Company, 8th Brigade Engineer Battalion both while in South Korea and at Fort Hood, Texas. Following the Engineer Captain’s Career Course, he served at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii as the Brigade Engineer for the 25th Division Sustainment Brigade, 25th Infantry Division. He then served as the assistant operations officer for 29th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division prior to taking command of Alpha Company, 29th Brigade Engineer Battalion. As the commander of Alpha Company, MAJ Geary deployed to Thailand in support of Pacific Pathways 2020. MAJ Geary’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Air Assault Badge, Expert Soldier Badge, the Jungle Tab, and the Ranger Tab. MAJ Geary is married to his wife Kaitlyn, and they have three children.
