Learn about the language, history, and culture of Europe through an interdisciplinary approach.

Offered by the Department of English and World Languages.

Cadets who major in Europe foreign area studies pursue an interdisciplinary approach to understanding global and regional issues related to Europe. Language electives focus on German, French, Spanish, or Portuguese. Complementary support courses in the humanities and social sciences enrich the major’s regional capabilities.

Cadets in may enrich their experience through interaction with the French, Spanish, German and Portuguese Forums where they can learn about language and culture through trip sections and other activities. Cadets may pursue immersion or a summer Academic Individual Advanced Development (AIAD) program, USMA-run academic enrichment experience, in places such as France, Spain, Germany, or Portugal.
